An early morning shot from our lumpy mooring.

An early morning shot from our lumpy mooring.

Getting back to the boat last night after our meal was like a comedy sketch. Waves were slopping over the transom and dinghy needed bailing out ………. then Ian had to ‘punt’ it  out with the oar before we could drop the engine………The calm waters had changed to a decidedly choppy sea state………Once on our way we couldn’t spot our cabin light in the dark, so we were milling around……..then the engine stopped……always best to turn the fuel on before setting off we find!

All safely back on board we settled down to a night cap, followed by a roly poly night. Only Dawn seemed to have slept well…..must have been the Amareto followed by hot chocolate with brandy!

Time for our farewells……..bags packed and loaded in the dinghy we made a rocky landing and had to wade ashore.

Soggy socks......dinghy to the right, boat to the left.

All of the islands are served by an impressive ferry service that is subsidised by the Scottish Assembly…….£6.50 for an hour’s sail over to Androssen……..a bargain!

We went and restocked the larder and bar at the local Co-op and then faced the task of getting it all back to the boat in the dinghy. We managed to turn the bow into the waves, load up and use the oar as a paddle to get us out deep enough to drop the motor………every day a new opportunity to learn!!
When we cast off from our mooring, it became apparent that we had dragged the mooring buoy overnight……..

There should be a good 20 metres between buoys!

Three miles down the coast and we soon  pulled into a much more sheltered bay at Lamlash.

We spent a lazy afternoon in the village and went back to sunbathe on the boat…….luxury!
